Europese beleggers kiezen geen richting
Meer omzet en
winst Microsoft

Microsoft zag de winst in het
eerste kwartaal van het gebro
ken boekjaar toenemen tot 2,6
miljard dollar. In dezelfde pe
riode vorig jaar bedroeg de
winst 2 miljard dollar. De om
zet steeg van 7,75 miljard dollar
in de eerste drie maanden vorig
jaar, tot 8.2 miljard dit jaar.
Voor het tweede kwartaal wordt
een omzet van 9,7 tot 9,8 mil
jard dollar verwacht. De winst
per aandeel zal in het volgende
kwartaal uitkomen op 29 of 30
cent. Microsoft is de producent
van onder meer het besturings
systeem Windows en het e-
mailprogramma Exchange.
Lagere omzet
in detailhandel
voorburg - De detailhandel
heeft in juli 3,3 procent minder
omgezet dan in diezelfde
maand een jaar geleden. De da
ling komt vooral voor rekening
van winkels in non-foodartike-
len als kleding en meubels.
Daar lag de omzet 7,3 procent
lager dan in juli 2002, zo blijkt
uit cijfers die het Centraal Bu
reau voor de Statistiek vandaag
heeft gepubliceerd. De winkels
in voedings- en genotmiddelen
zetten in juli 3.8 procent meer
om dan in juli 2002.
Bedrijven zuinig
met verzekering
Rotterdam - Nederlandse be
drijven betalen gemiddeld het
minst voor hun aansprakelijk
heidsverzekeringen. Zij geven
daar gemiddeld 23 eurocent
aan uit op elke 1000 euro om
zet. Het Europese gemiddelde
ligt op 50 cent. Dat blijkt uit een
onderzoek onder ruim duizend
bedrijven in Europa. De peiling
werd uitgevoerd door Marsh,
dat actief is in risicobeheer.
Verder blijkt dat Europese be
drijven zich vorig jaar minder
hebben verzekerd tegen aan
sprakelijkheid dan in het jaar
ervoor. Door een premieverho
ging met gemiddeld 82 procent
en lagere winsten bij de bedrij
ven, kozen zij voor een dekking
die gemiddeld 11 procent lag.
Lloyds uit bank
Nieuw-Zeeland
londen - National Bank of New
Zealand gaat over in andere
handen. De Britse bank Lloyds
verkoopt de bank aan het Au
stralische ANZ Bank. ANZ be
taalt er 3,4 miljard euro voor.
Lloyds was ooit de grootste
bank van Groot-Brittannië,
maar kampt met dalende in
komsten. Eerder dit jaar wer
den al onderdelen verkocht om
de situatie te verbeteren. ANZ
meldde vandaag een record
jaarwinst van 1,4 miljard euro.
Herziening van
winst Goodyear
san francisco - De Amerikaan
se bandenfabrikant Goodyear
blijkt de afgelopen jaren te hoge
winstcijfers te hebben verstrekt.
De directie wijt dit aan fouten
in de software die het bedrijf bij
de berekeningen gebruikt.
Goodyear heeft van 1998 tot
2002 vermoedelijk 100 miljoen
dollar minder winst gemaakt
dan in de boeken is opgeno
men. Het bedrijf zou gisteren
zijn resultaten over het derde
kwartaal bekendmaken, maar
dat is uitgesteld tot medio vol
gende maand. De onderneming
verwacht over het derde kwar
taal een verlies van 90 tot 115
miljoen dollar. Het aandeel
Goodyear daalde gisteren op de
beurs 9 procent.
BEURS KORT
Het Zwitsers-Franse uitzend
concern ADECCO heeft in het
derde kwartaal beter gepres
teerd dan verwacht. De netto
winst steeg 30 procent naar 104
miljoen euro, de omzet daalde
3 procent naar 4,25 miljard.
Adecco gaat door met bezuini
gingsmaatregelen.
Het Franse farmaciebedrijf SA-
NOFI-SYNTHELABO heeft in
het derde kwartaal de omzet
met 9,2 procent zien stijgen tot
2,04 miljard euro. Sanofi hand
haaft de prognoses voor heel
2003: een omzetgroei van 15
procent en een stijging van de
winst per aandeel met 20 pro
cent.
Telecomconcern AT&T heeft
het bedrijfsresultaat in het der
de kwartaal zien dalen van 525
naar 458 miljoen dollar. De om
zet kromp met 8,1 procent tot
8,6 miljard dollar.
's Werelds grootste pakketver
voerder UPS heeft in het derde
kwartaal beter gepresteerd dan
verwacht. De nettowinst kwam
uit op 739 miljoen tegen 578
miljoen dollar in het derde
kwartaal van 2002. Vorig jaar
viel de winst veel lager uit door
dat een staking dreigde bij het
concern. De omzet ging 7 pro
cent omhoog tot 8,31 miljard
dollar.

kleine plus gezet. Het koersge-
middelde in Amsterdam steeg
0,90 punten tot een stand van
318,26 punten. Een stijging van
nog geen 0,3 procent.
De beleggers in Europa kozen
in de vroege ochtend geen een
duidige richting. In Parijs sloeg
het sentiment om. De CAC-in-
dex kroop uit het rood en no
teerde een plus van 0,17 pro
cent. De beurs in Frankfurt ble
ven in het rood met een min
van 0,7 procent. Londen bleef
nagenoeg onveranderd.
De euro noteerde in de och-
tendhandel 1,1787 dollar. Dat
was iets hoger dan tijdens het
slot van de handel donderdag,
toen de euro 1,1780 dollar
waard was.
De beurs in Tokyo hield zich
vandaag staande na de zware
verliezen van de voorgaande
dag. De Nikkei-index eindigde
DOLLAR IN EURO
nagenoeg onveranderd op
10.335,70 punten. Op de overi
ge beurzen in het Verre Oosten
bleven verliezen overheersen.
De belangrijkste beursgraad-
meter in Zuid-Korea daalde 0,8
procent en in Australië kwam
het verlies uit op 0,2 procent. In
Hong Kong wist de Hang Seng-
index op te krabbelen tot een
slotstand (11.736,37 punten)
die op 0,81 punt na gelijk was
aan het slot van gisteren.
