ABN Amro neemt Damrak op sleeptouw

de fabrikant van onder meer
Luxaflex-jaloezieën, heeft in het
eerste halfjaar een winstdaling
van 7 procent geboekt. Het net
toresultaat kwam uit op 53,3
miljoen euro, ten opzichte van
57,1 miljoen euro in dezelfde
periode vorig jaar. De omzet
daalde met één procent naar
857 miljoen euro. Voor de twee
de helft van het jaar onthoudt
de onderneming zich van een
concrete prognose. Het order
boek nam licht toe tot 308 mil
joen euro. Het aantal werkne
mers lag eind van het eerste
halfjaar op 14.500.

viesbureau Grontmij rekent er
op dat het bedrijfsresultaat over
heel 2002 op hetzelfde niveau
als vorig jaar uitkomt In de eer
ste helft moest de onderneming
een daling van 10 procent in
casseren tot 6,9 miljoen euro.
De omzet in het eerste halfjaar
nam af met 13 procent tot 210
miljoen euro.

dezelfde periode vorig jaar was
er nog een verlies van ruim

46,3 miljoen euro. Over 2001
haalde de onderneming een
winst van 620.000 euro. In
Zuid-Afrika verbeterden de om
zet en marges van bonen en
rijst. In Nederland nam de om
zet toe, maar bleven de marges
achter.

derlandse uitgever Reed Elsevier
heeft in de eerste zes maanden
van 2002 de omzet met 22 pro
cent zien stijgen tot ruim 3,9
miljard euro. In dezelfde perio
de vorig jaar bedroeg de omzet
nog circa 3,3 miljard euro. De
winst voor goodwill en bijzon
dere posten kwam iets lager uit
op 472 miljoen euro.
Algemeen directeur Davis her
haalde vandaag dat de winst per
aandeel dit jaar met dubbele cij
fers groeit. Ook zal de omzet
groei hoger zijn dan die van de
markt „We zullen het beter
doen dan de concurrentie", al
dus Davis.
De omzetstijging is vooral te
danken aan de Amerikaanse
branchegenoot Harcourt, die
vorig jaar door Reed Elsevier
werd overgenomen. „Met die
acquisitie hebben we de om
vang gekregen die we wilden in
de educatieve en medische uit
geverij", stelde Davis. De busi-
ness-divisie had te kampen met
tegenvallende advertentiemark
ten. Hierdoor kromp de autono
me omzetgroei voor het hele
concern met 1 procent.
„Er zijn geen duidelijke signalen
dat de advertentiemarkt verbe
tert", zei Davis. Als gevolg daar
van komt de business-divisie dit
jaar als enige uit op 'een be
scheiden, maar behapbare om
zetdaling'. Reed Elsevier heeft
zich minder afhankelijk gemaakt
van de advertentiemarkt. Het
aandeel advertenties in de om
zet daalde van ruim 30 procent
naar zo'n 15 procent
De topman wilde niet recht
streeks reageren op het gerucht
dat Reed Elsevier de weten
schappelijke uitgaven van me
diabedrijf Bertelsmann wil ko
pen. Wel zei Davis tevreden te
zijn over de huidige samenstel
ling van de onderneming met
haar vier divisies. Davis ver
wacht wel dat er dit jaar nog
'een paar honderd meer ontsla
gen vallen in voornamelijk de
VS'. Eerder verloren al ongeveer
1000 mensen hun baan.
DEN NORSKE BANK, de groot
ste bank van Noorwegen, heeft
in het tweede kwartaal de winst
fors zien dalen door het slechte
beursklimaat en afschrijvingen
op investeringen. De nettowinst
ging van 1,68 miljard kroon vo
rig jaar naar 412 miljoen kroon
(54 miljoen euro).
Het Franse mediaconcern VI
VENDI UNIVERSAL overweegt
zijn activiteiten in de ontwikke
ling van computerspelletjes te
verkopen. De activiteiten met
een waarde van 2 miljard dollar
bevinden zich vooral in de VS.
De Duitse sportartikelenfabri
kant ADIDAS-SALOMON heeft
in het tweede kwartaal, de net
towinst zien stijgen van 24 naar
25 miljoen euro. De omzet nam
met 10 procent toe tot 1,51 mil
jard euro. De resultaten waren
beter dan verwacht. Ook de or
derportefeuille overtrof de ver
wachtingen.

financials - en daarmee ook de
Amsterdamse beurs - duidelijk
op sleeptouw. De AEX- index
stond na twee uur handel op
een winst van 8,93 punten (2,6
procent) op 346,09 punten.
Ook de overige beurzen in Euro
pa begonnen hoger. Frankfurt
steeg 3 procent. Parijs en Lon
den deden het met 1,7 en 2,1
procent iets minder. In Amster
dam vielen ook de cijfers van
Reed Elsevier in goede aarde.
De koersen profiteerden ook
van de aangekondigde IMF-le-
ningen voor Brazilië. De meeste
opluchting was in Spanje zicht
baar. Vele Spaanse bedrijven
zijn actief in het Zuid-Ameri
kaanse land. Ook ABN Amro
haalt 15 procent van haar in
komsten uit Brazilië. In de valu-
tahandel bleef de euro steken op
een koers van 0,97 dollar.
De beurs in Tokyo moest van
daag iets inleveren. De Nikkei
index sloot met een verlies van
34,83 punten (ruim 0,3 procent)
op 9799,57 punten. Beleggers
namen aan het eind van de han
del hun winst na koersstijgingen
in de ochtend.
De overige beurzen in het Verre
Oosten waren verdeeld. De
Hang Seng-index in Hong Kong
eindigde 0,2 procent lager. In
Seoul steeg de Kospi-index 0,75
procent. De All Ordinaries-index
in Sydney ging 0,85 procent om
hoog.
