Gemengd beeld op Europese beurzen
Nauwelijks winst
voor Sonyconcern

caconcern Sony heeft een
zwaar kwartaal achter de rug.
Door een hevige concurrentie
slag in de consumentenelektro
nica en reorganisatiekosten
daalde de nettowinst in het eer
ste kwartaal van het op 1 april
begonnen boekjaar met 98 pro
cent tot 1,12 miljard yen (8,2
miljoen euro). De omzet zakte
met 7 procent tot 1604 miljard
yen (11,9 miljard euro). Sony
had in april al aangegeven in de
problemen te zitten. Het con
cern schokte toen de financiële
markten met een groot verlies,
waardoor de beurskoers in twee
dagen met meer dan een kwart
daalde.
Boeing duikt
in rode cijfers
Chicago - Het Amerikaanse
vliegtuigbouw- en ruimtevaart-
concern Boeing is in het tweede
kwartaal in de verliezen gedo
ken. Door problemen bij de fa
bricage van satellietlancerings-
systemen, waarvoor een voor
ziening van 1,1 miljard dollar
werd getroffen, kwam het net
toverlies uit op 192 miljoen dol
lar. Vorig jaar was er in dezelfde
periode nog een winst van 779
miljoen dollar. De concemom-
zet zakte 8 procent tot 12,8 mil
jard dollar. Ook in de commer
ciële vliegtuigbouw moest
Boeing harde klappen incasse
ren. Bij deze divisie viel de om
zet 24 procent terug tot 5,8 mil
jard dollar en daalden de winst
marges sterk wegens de algehe
le malaise in de luchtvaart en
de toegenomen concurrentie
van Airbus.
Vopak verwacht
slecht kwartaal
Rotterdam - Het olie-opslag-
concem Vopak verwacht dat
het bedrijfsresultaat van het
tweede kwartaal ongeveer gelijk
is aan dat van het eerste kwar
taal. De winst kwam toen uit op
een tegenvallende 38 miljoen
euro, volgens Vopak door enke
le extreme omstandigheden zo
als een strenge winter in de
Oostzee. Nu blijkt dat de markt
in het tweede kwartaal langza
mer is hersteld dan het bedrijf
had verwacht. De positieve ef
fecten werden grotendeels te
nietgedaan door wisselkoersef
fecten. Vopak maakt eind au
gustus de definitieve halfjaarcij
fers bekend, met een verwach
ting van de resultaten over heel
2003.
Omzet Laurus
flink gedaald
den bosch - De omzet van su
permarktconcern Laurus
(Edah, Konmar, Super De Boer)
is in het eerste halfjaar 2003 uit
gekomen op 1,97 miljard euro.
Dat is 6,2 procent lager dan vo
rig jaar. Als ook de inkomsten
van de zelfstandige onderne
mers binnen de verschillende
formules worden meegerekend
dan komt de consumentenom-
zet uit op 2,3 miljard euro, 7,6
procent minder dan dezelfde
periode in 2002. Laurus wijt de
daling te wijten aan de moeilij
ke economische omstandighe
den. De sterkste daling deed
zich voor bij de Konmarwin-
kels. Bij de Edah-süpers was
sprake van een licht hogere
omzet
Lagere winst
voor Blydenstein
goor - Mislukte gesprekken
over een overname door Hun-
ter Douglas, hebben geleid tot
extra kosten en een lagere winst
bij Blydenstein-Willink, fabri
kant van binnenzonwering en
interieurstoffen. De winst over
het eerste halfjaar zal achter
blijven bij die over het eerste
halfjaar 2002. Toen maakte het
bedrijf 37.000 euro winst. De
overname ketste af, nadat Hun-
ter Douglas (bekend van Luxa
flex) de boekhouding van Bly
denstein-Willink had onder
zocht. De totale omzet van Bly
denstein-Willink liep in het eer
ste halfjaar ook iets terug. Het
bedrijf verwacht 21 augustus de
definitieve halfjaarcijfers te pu
bliceren.
Reorganisatie bij
Eastman Kodak
Rochester - Het Amerikaanse
fotografieconcem Eastman Ko
dak gaat verder reorganiseren
om de sterk verslechterde resul
taten te kunnen opvijzelen.
Eastman maakte gisteren be
kend nog steeds te lijden onder
een afgenomen vraag naar film
rolletjes omdat consumenten
massaal overstappen naar digi
tale fotografie. De nieuwe reor
ganisatie gaat ten koste van
4500 tot 6000 van de in totaal
70.000 banen. De directie
schrapte de afgelopen twee jaar
al circa 8000 banen. De netto
winst daalde daardoor in het
tweede kwartaal met 61 procent
tot 112 miljoen dollar. De om
zet bleef nagenoeg gelijk op
3,35 miljard dollar. De fotogra
fiedivisie is nog altijd goed voor
een ^nzet van ruim 2,3 miljard
dollar.

De Europese beurzen lieten vanochtend de eer
ste uren een gevarieerd beeld zien. Na een posi
tief begin belandde een aantal graadmeters in
het rood maar later op de ochtend trad herstel in.
Beleggers op de beurs in Amsterdam wachtten
op de kwartaalcijfers van Shell.
De AEX stond na twee uur handel bijna 0,5 pro
cent hoger op 307,70 punten. Een winst van 1,27
punten. De graadmeters in Parijs en Frankfurt
noteerden een licht verlies. Londen bleef over
eind met een winst van 0,5 procent voor de FT-
SE-100. KLM ging 2,4 procent omhoog naar 8,48
euro doordat de luchtvaartmaatschappij het af
gelopen kwartaal een kleiner verlies leed dan ver-

wacht. Ahold was net als gisteren de grootste ver
liezer met een daling van 4,3 procent. In de Euro
pese valutahandel belandde de euro even boven
de 115 dollar maar was om elf uur gezakte naar
1,1487. De toonaangevende Nikkei-index van 225
aandelen in Tokyo steeg vandaag 55,66 punten
(0,6 procent) tot 9671 punten. Op de beursvloe-
ren in het Verre Oosten ging de Kospi-index in
Seoul het hardst omhoog met een stijging van 1
procent. De Hang Seng-index eindigde 0,2 pro
cent hoger. In Sydney bleef de belangrijkste
graadmeter, de All Ordinaries, steken op een
winst van nog geen 0,2 procent.
